Chapter 9

When the class was over I walked out of the room before James could reach me. Gwen was waiting for me outside the door, for the third period. We walked inside and I sat beside her. finally a normal class I could attend to. strategy seemed like a practical thing to study.  Not once people stopped staring at me, even after the teacher came. I could recognize some guys from second period, and I guess the news runs fast, because it seemed like their friend new about everything that happened. I liked to think that they were staring because they were admiring my incredible beauty. Yeah, right.

Finally the bell for lunch time rung. We went to the cafeteria and we found Mia sitting with a tall guy. I could not see him from this far, but as soon as we reached her I could see that I was right. The guy was gorgeous. He could be a model really. He had blond wavy hair and gold eyes. He had so many muscles and was even taller than James. But Mace was taller. The guy was massive. And again I was drooling.

Gwen went to sit beside them and I went with her. He looked me over. “So this is the famous Kayla that Mia told me so much about. Hello, my name is Derik.” He extended his hand and I shook it.  

“Kayla, this is my brother. He is a senior here. And he is a bull. Literally. You can see that because of his big muscles.” She teased him, reaching to touch his arm, and he pushed her away. They both were laughing. Suddenly I wanted to have a brother. Or not, he would probably be a jerk.

“Nice to meet you Derek.” I said smiling.

“You are quite famous here already. Is it true that James almost got in a fight in second period, and after you humiliated him in front of everyone he kissed you?” Derik said, interested. Okay, I hadn´t thought much about it, because the way he said it made it sound really bad.

“WHAT?” Both Mia and Gwen said in unison. “Girl, you don´t waste time do you? Tell us everything.” Gwen said excited.

I turned towards Derik with my killing stare. At least I thought it was scary, until he smiled at me and held his shoulders up, as if saying it wasn´t his fault.

“It´s nothing really. He wanted to sit beside me, but there was no sit available, so he asked a guy sitting beside me, I think his name was Chris, the dog guy, to get out and started to scare him. It was a mess. Then I got mad, pushed him and told him to fuck off. Then he kissed me, apologized the way I told him to, and left. That was it. I don´t understand what is the big deal.” I told them, their mouths were hanging open. It was funny to see all their faces in shock and I started giggling.

“What’s the big deal? Girl, do you know what he would do if anyone else did something like that to him? Probably that person wouldn’t be between us anymore.” Gwen said.

“what did you do when he kissed you?” Mia asked, interested.

“I couldn´t do anything really. I was so shocked that I could react before he left. Really that guy is just weird. He just looked at me and said that he was sticking up with me. I think he didn´t get his medicine this morning.” I told them joking.

“No, he is always like that.” Derik said in disbelieve. “Kayla, you have my respect. Everyone salute the great James slayer!” He said bowing dramatically, and Mia and Gwen followed his lead. We all started laughing so hard that we just couldn´t stop for several minutes.

When we calmed down, Mia was the first to talk. “But really, remember what we were telling you about him giving up on you after a few days? Forget that. I don´t think he will.”

“Awn man, what did I ever do to make him go after me like that? beside bossing him around I mean? I think I will probably end up killing him. Totally random question: What do you guys think I should do with a dead body?” I told them, and they started laughing again.

“If you want I can take care of him for you. Just say the worlds. I’ve been waiting for this opportunity forever. And besides, what is a scary cat against me, right?” He said bravely, puffing up his chest.

“Wow, brother, look at that, I think your head just got three times bigger with all of this self confidence.” He punched her in the arm and she stopped laughing and started to rub her arm giving him her tongue.

“No it’s fine. If someone would kill him it would be me. I would probably have some fun doing it. But thank you anyway. I will just have to ignore the moron.” I said with a sadistic smile. “ Guys, I have to go, I don´t really know where is the Spirit Control class, so I will have to go earlier to try to find it out.” I told them, standing up.

“You have S.P. now?” I nodded. “Nice, me too! Am I lucky or what? Come on, I will show you the way.” He said, getting up. After we said our goodbyes to the girls we headed to the classroom.”
